We’ve got an exciting new offer that will help you to reduce your carbon footprint….

As part of our newly created 3 year environmental plan (which you’ll be hearing more about shortly) we have switched our office electricity provider to Ecotricity a pioneer of green energy natural partner for Cafédirect, “Together, we all need to tackle the big issues facing us around food, energy and transport. Just like Cafédirect, Ecotricity offers people a positive choice and the opportunity to bring about genuine change in the world.” said Dale Vince, Founder and Managing Director of Ecotricity.

Our environmental plan comes from a comprehensive audit of our supply chain, calculating the carbon footprint for each cup of coffee, tea or drinking chocolate sold by Cafédirect, right from bean (or tea leaf or cocoa pod) to cup, which has kept Whitney and Forum For the Future very busy!

The findings from our research are fascinating – it showed that the majority of the carbon emissions in nearly every cup of our coffee, tea or cocoa comes from the consumption stage – from the electricity required to boil the water!

On average, 72% of the carbon is emitted at this stage!!

These are our eco tips for how YOU can minimise your impact too

1) Switch to a green energy provider!
We’ve just switched to Ecotricity – you can too. Click here or call 08000 302 302 quoting ‘CAFE1’. You will receive a fabulous goody bag worth over £65 including our limited edition tea towel, funky insulated mug, stylish Bodum cafetiere and of course a selection of our award winning products when you switch to Ecotricity.

2) Boil Better!
Only boil the amount of water that you need – this might sound obvious, but it does make a big difference!

3) Use an energy efficient kettle - you can buy these on Ethical Superstore

This offer will run with Ecotricity for a limited period only so what better time to make the switch?

    Hello Chris, Dan and Marian,

Great to hear you’re already Ecotricity & Cafédirect customers, but I’m afraid you won’t be able to take part in this incentive!

I’m sure you’ll have friends though who’ve been considering switching, so I guess now is the best time – if you’re lucky they might treat you to a coffee or two?!

Also, Ecotricity do often have other incentives for exciting customers – should get details in thier ‘Transformer’ newsletter, if you don’t already get it you can sign up here http://bit.ly/9DU1uK

    Alex.

I switched to Ecotricity about a year ago – do I qualify for the goody bag? Or at least some of it?

  3. Dan Papworth says:

I switched to Ecotricity over a year ago. Can I have a goody bag?

Hey – nice idea. Any chance those of us who have been Ecotricity customers (for electric AND gas!), as well as being Cafedirect customers can benefit??? These johnny-come-latelys are outdoing us again! :-)
