Friday Fun – Who Is Your Perfect Tea Party Guest?
posted at 11:16am, 05 Feb 10 by Cafédirect HQ [ 42 comments ]
Friday Fun is here again!
As I’m sure you all know by now, Fairtrade Fortnight is kicking off on the 22nd February so we are encouraging you to turn over a new tea leaf and make the big swap to Cafédirect teas by organising your own Tea Party. To help you with this we have created kits full of everything you need to host the perfect Tea Party.
These fabulous Tea Party kits (picture below) are available online later today but the lucky winner of Friday Fun will receive a kit (and a few extra surprises) to kickstart Fairtrade Fortnight in style.
All you need to do is tell us who would be your ideal Tea Party guest and why…personally I’m thinking Elvis (entertainment), Mandela (inspiration) and my nan (great cake baker).

Cafédirect Tea Party Kits
The rules are simple:
Tell us who your ideal Tea Party guest is and why, post it to the comment box of this blog post.
You have until 5.30pm today to post your response.
The winner will be chosen and announced on Monday on our blog and will receive a Tea party kit.
Prizes can only be sent to a UK or Ireland postal address.
Good Luck!

Billy Connolly, it would mean tea with a smile
i would have to say mine would be Walt Disney. Imagine all the fantasy and stories he could tell about his theme parks
Being a singer i was gonna say Elvis but u beat me to it, so i would go with my 2nd fav musician and say Garth Brooks – country legend and he could give me useful tips to improve
I would choose Bobby Moore. I would like him to tell me how good it must feel lifting the World Cup and what he thinks about the way footballers nowdays act.
My ideal tea part guest would be Peter Andre! Cliched I know but he seems like a lovely bloke and it’s been a tough week for him so think he could do with a little tea (well coffee as he’s a coffee lover) and a chinwag!
I would invite Jamie Oliver to cook for us, Stephen Fry for scintillating conversation and John Denver to sing for us.
harrison ford! i could outline the plot for a new indiana jones movie and hopefully he will finish filming it before he drops dead…he isn’t getting any younger and i do need another indie fix

I know who i would have for tea, it would be those scrummy Hairy Bikers. Not only would they supply the delicious food, but those Northern gents would have me in stitches and inspire me to be the hostess with the mostess
Really hope I can choose someone mythical as I would love to have Tea with the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland he is so much fun and there would never be a shortage of tea with all those teapots!
Mine would be Barry Manilow. He could sing and play piano to me whilst we are having tea.
John Barrowman so he could give me that smile, sing to me and my other half would not be jealous!
I wish I could have a tea party with Hunter S. Thompson… I would let him bring the tea as I am sure he has some interesting concoctions!
Jamie Archer, as we can talk and make music as we drink tea.
If I could choose anyone For me it would have to be morcambe & wise because I could really do with a good chuckle. .
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall,as if the cucumber sandwiches run out I’m sure he would forage some more food from the surrounding area.
Michael Mcintyre, to take the mickey out of Hugh’s foraging, and lastly, diversity dance group to entertain us while the kettle/cafetieres were brewing.
Well, it would have to be Robert Redford, as he is not only a great actor, and film director, so would have brilliant stories to tell about his Hollywood buddies but also he’s politically aware and a keen environmentalist. Lastly he still looks great, and has a wonderful smile.
As someone has already pinched John Barrowman, I’m going for Gareth David Lloyd – Ianto from Torchwood. Cool, cute, makes tea all day. Very funny and would make my husband jealous!
I’d have to say Mr Darcy
I have a group of Jane Austen loving friends and we have Austen tea partys a few times a year. We put on one of the films (tends to end up being the BBC Pride and Prejudice a lot!) have tea and cakes and a catch up – it’s lovely! He’d be a welcome addition to our party I’m sure!
Would have to be Rowan Atkinson. His face alone makes me laugh.
My guest would have to be Beryl Reid as she was a lady with so many funny faces but lots of heart and experiences. What stories she could tell of the good old days!
Its would have to be Jeremy Clarkson – such a grump – but he makes us smile!
Peter Kay to provide entertainment for all my tea party guests and he looks like he would enjoy a nice mug of tea and a piece of cake at the tea party I will be hosting.
It has to be Peter Andre… hes certainly my cup of tea!
Would have to be Jinmmy Carr for one liners, Bono for eco warrior inspiration and ahem… Johnny Depp would be the crumpet!!!
I would like to have tea some Fairtrade farmers and hear how Fairtrade sugar, tea and coffee has improved their lives. I still have a cafedirect poster up in my house about the smell of new shoes and coffee, and I would love to hear about that firsthand.
With Richard O’Brien in the Aztec zone.
I’d love Dolly Parton to come for tea, queen of country with some fantastic stories to tell. Mary Berry for the fabulous cakes she could cook
and Kim & Aggie to clear up afterwards lol
I’d like to have tea with Stephen Fry because he has a vast knowledge of a wide variety of subjects and an great sense of humour. However, he would probably tell me I was making the tea wrong and correct my table setting!
I would have Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally to tea and I would show them all the fantastic teas that could go with Aunt Sally’s cream cakes!
John Terry, just to try and keep him out of trouble
I’d have to say my nan, sadly she passed away a good many years ago but i’d love to see her once more just to get her recipe for bread pudding out of her, mine never comes out right!
Would love to have a cup of tea with scones, cream and raspberry jam with Cliff Richard. He is a true British legend !!
He could sing some of my favourite songs while I relax and enjoy a lovely Cafédirect Earl Grey Tea.
John Terry, he needs to lift a cup today!
I would invite Barbara Woodhouse so she could walk my dogs afterwards!
I would have Stephen Fry – funny, intelligent and I’m sure he’ll have a wealth of stories and anecdotes. Only snag is he’s tied to a certain other tea company isn’t he? Well I suppose a tea party is a good way to win him over!
Have to say my grandaughter – she loves a tea party.
Oh would have to be Stephen Fry, think of what a lovely tea party it would be, pinkys out, fine china, and fine discussions. Perfect guest!
GALEN from Planet of the Apes
Those chimps are mad for a quality cuppa tea
I would invite David Attenborough for inspiration and interesting conversation.
Will Self for witty banter.
The children from our school eco-group to talk to them, inform them and learn from them.
Hi all, thanks for all of your great entries! This week’s winner is Billie’s suggestion of inviting the Cafédirect growers round for tea.
Stephen Fry – a wittier a person does not exist
