Welcome to the first Friday Fun of 2010! Let’s start the new year as we mean to go on with lots and lots of entries. One of the long-standing traditions of New Year is making those all important resolutions and we’d like to hear yours. Here in the Cafédirect office, we’ve made a few resolutions - all totally achievable!
I am determined to learn how to use our gorgeous coffee machine properly. I want more of this and less of this.
Siobhan is going to try her hand at making her own clothes. She’ll need to hone her skills though otherwise it’ll be questionable eco-chic!
Kevin is going veggie (although he had a burger last night) and is going to grow herbs & vegetables in his garden. (Keep checking the blog this year for more info on growing YOUR own!)
A lot of people make resolutions about their own well-being. If you have decided to cut your body a break after all of the festive season, why not swap one of your daily cuppas for decaff? Our decaffeinated fresh ground coffee scooped a coveted Gold Star at the Great Taste Awards last year.
To enter Friday Fun:
Post your New Year resolution in the comment box below. We want to hear all your resolution stories! As usual, the most creative entry will win so be as inventive as you can!

Decaff delights
The winner will win our fabulous decaff set of award winnning Decaffeinated Medium Roast fresh ground coffee, Organic Decaffeinated instant coffee and Decaffeinated Everyday Tea. Prizes can only be sent to a UK or Ireland postal address.
You have until 5.30pm today to post your response. The most creative or interesting entry will be chosen by judges from Cafédirect and announced on Monday on our blog.
Good luck!

My New Years Resolution is to recycle everything i possibly can, and to grow more of my own vegetables
i am going to try and stop smoking so i can get back to my 1st love – singing and hopefully try to record afew tracks
Im gonna lay of the drink and cigs to try even harder to concieve
I want to make a start on energy self-sufficiency, but I think this resolution will need a few years. I’d like to plant some ash trees for firewood, find out if you can install solar panels in the conservatory and re-open the well that used to be in the middle of our garden path – oh, and make enough money to pay for that lot.
This is the year I will lose all that weight
I’ll keep the rooms tidy, the cupboards all straight
I plan to recycle my bottles and tins
And make sure my rubbish goes in the right bins.
I’ll catch up on reading, keep up with the news
And give tissues to friends when they’re down with the blues.
My halo is polished, but I’m sure you knew
I’ll not do it at all, it’s too good to be true.
My new years resolutions are to become active in my desire to change somebody elses world, become fully ethical in my shopping choices, and of course, grow a prize-winning marrow turnip in my garden.
All to do with being a workaholic and knowing only too well that there is truth in the fact that if you are happy you are healthy, so this year….I’m going to make sure I take a little time out for my special friends (some of them have probably forgotten who I am). Priorities hey? I’ve drawn up the list already so I can keep myself to it.
Since giving birth I really try
To tidy but the day flies by
So this year I’ll make extra wishes
That I manage all the dishes
I’ll try my bestest to behave
And always give my legs a shave
I’ll also try to not look shabby
Even though I’m tired and crabby
Happy New Year
My resolution is to have no resolutions as they never work liek reducing the amount of caffine i drink lasted 2 day last year. Instead i an find new ways of doing this throughout the year xx
When January first comes round
so many people can be found
creating lists of hopes and dreams
and jotting down their plans and schemes.
For me this year, there’s poetry
And just for fun, photography.
No Bailey I, nor Leibovitz
but still I’ll pledge to take some pics.
Each day I’ll strive to take a shot
and on my website post the lot!
With poetry my plan is clear,
to shape and craft and mould- this year
I won’t write verse or odes, so much
as knock my poems into touch,
until they’re turned into a book
with hopes someone will take a look.
When creativity is low
you’ll see me to the kettle go,
so one more thing would help me through
to make my resolutions true,
Let me be direct and say
I’d love to win some free Café!
I am going to look glam. I am getting older every day and always wondered when the day would come when I would get up and look immaculate, well styled and glamourous like a magazine cover! However the recent weather has prevented this a bit
My resolution is to take and publish a photo every day to document 2010!
I’m sure I could photo some goodies
I don’t have any resoloutions as such as I alwasys end up breaking them but I’m going to try and lose some weight if I can. I managed to lose just over 2 stone from the 3rd week in January to the 15th December, so am hoping that I can loose some this year
Make everyone around me happy and do nice things for others.
I plan to smile more at people and say hello to neighbours etc.
Imagine if everyone did this, how much more friendly the streets would be.
To be a better Grilla and only masticate Fair Trade bananas.
When Santa Claus forgot me
It wasn’t quite the same
I left him a glass of sherry
It was wasted – what a shame
But when I read my Twitter
I had to rub my eyes
To see the new competition
With Cafe Direct for prize
I really do deserve it
I have been very good
I even ate the carrot
The one that Rudolf should…
And my resolution is to write better poetry.
drink more cafe direct everyday
healthy and delicious- sip sip hooray
last year I started my quest to be positive and it changed my life so this year my only resolution is to continue to celebrate my fabulousness and that of my lovely friends and family who make life wonderful every day!
get fitter and smile more! simple!
At least once a week I’m going to take an hour just for me and either just sit quietly and read my book, or have a hot bath or go and see a friend – some me time that I never seemed to get in 2009 is the order of the year!
I’ve decided to try and expand the amount, and range of Fairtrade products I buy. While I’ve got the usuals down pat (Cafedirect, sugar, tea) I’m going to try and make Fairtrade choices whenever possible (fruit, rice cakes, museli bars).
Oh, and of course, lose a few kilos, exercise more, dress more glam and buy a pair of green heels.
My New Years Resolution is to talk less and listen more!
I intend to climb Macchu Pichu as my new years resolution.
And to enjoy it; making the most of what I hope to be an incredible experience.
My New Years Resolution is to be healthier through eating better, consuming less caffine, more excercise etc. I spent alot of 2009 poorly so hopefully the changes i make will keep me healthy
I intend to stop leaving everything to the lastminute!
Thank you all for sharing your new year’s resolution stories with us.
Congratulations to Lorna Appiah for her creative entry that also featured Cafédirect in the poem.
Like Lorna, don’t forget that you can follow us on twitter too – http://twitter.com/Cafedirect_hq
The Cafédirect team also really liked Catherine’s resolution to climb Macchu Picchu this year too – why not try one of COCLA coffee co-operative’s tours for your trip? http://www.cafedirect.co.uk/our_partners/south_america/Peru/cocla.cfm
Good luck to everyone in fulfilling your resolutions!
