Christmas Party Friday Fun…

posted at 9:52am, 18 Dec 09 by Alex [ 10 comments ]

So this is our last Friday Fun of the year, and we are asking for your inspiration!

We’ve found some seasonal fun on the internet, like the Cafédirect dancing elves or these guys who are desperately in need of our San Cristobal Drinking Chocolate and considered relating our Friday Fun to that, but actually we need your help….

We had our Christmas party last night – and are all in need of a bit of a boost today! Luckily we are blessed with a plentiful supply of coffee in the office.

Please share your tales from your Christmas parties (the more fun the better – but keep them clean!) as well as any exciting of  unusual gifts you have given or received from your colleagues….

The rules are simple:
knitted-accessoriesPost your stories and suggestions in the comment box by 5.30pm TODAY. The most entertaining and stimulating entries will be chosen by judges from Cafédirect and announced here on Monday.
If the accolade of winning our final Friday Fun of the year isn’t enough, we’ve got the great prizes of a ‘Winter Warmer’ set of knitted accessories (pictured) from our friends at People Tree plus some Cafédirect Rich Roast (my own choice for hangover cure*).

There are two sets to give away; one for the best gift, the other for best Christmas Party story!

If you’re not lucky enough to win this great prize, our friends at People Tree will give you 25% discount on their online store  with the promo code PTCD09. (The offer is valid for online orders only and can only be used once. Offer not valid in conjunction with any other offers. Offer expires 23/12/09 at midnight.)
Prizes can only be sent to a UK or Ireland postal address.

Good luck!

*always drink responsibly!

Thanks for sharing your festive work experiences with us….

Winner of Best Secret Santa story is Laura this week – lets hope there are other inspired secret santas out there too…
Congratulations to Anne Marie Munro for her one legged christmas party antics – although I guess that’s one leg more than everyone else (who were legless!!)

People Tree woolly accessories for your both (I’m jealous!), as well as some Rich Roast coffee.

If you didn’t win this great prize, remember People Tree will give you 25% discount on their online store with the promo code PTCD09 for online orders until Wednesday night.

My friend had organised a secret santa for a work christmas party a few years back. She had dished out the names, taken the gifts, made sure they were all wrapped and tagged and placed them under the christmas tree in a restaurant. When it came to the special moment we all sat around excited as the presents were handed out. One of the male members of staff was first to open-his face went bright red as it turned out to be a pair of frilly knickers. His secret santa exclaimed that it should have been a dvd! Turns out my friend had written the wrong names on the tags. Luckily he laughed about it!

Quite afternoon on the Friday Fun front – I suppose that is because you’re all at your Christmas parties now – we’ll extend the deadline for entries until Monday morning, so you can share the gossip here first…

  5. Laura says:

Last night was my work group’s Christmas do and one of the traditions is to have a “Secret Santa” distribute (surprise) gifts; I had braced myself for one of the usual naughty and not-so-nice items that crop up, or simply something in rather poor taste (and possibly plastic).
Instead, I unwrapped a kit for home-made ginger bear and a bag of rosebud tea! How lovely!
For once, a Secret Santa who knows me and likes to make gifts that actually please the recipient (thought it was just me!).
And thanks to my investigative talents, I was able to duely thank Santa’s envoy.
Merry Christmas to all, and may your Santa be as well inspired!

  6. KATIE PLANT says:

My funniest Christmas party was when I was a bit younger and we went for pizza with everyone. I didn’t realise that we were going to go bowling after and I was wearing a skirt and heels. I was dismayed when I realised I would have to wear those big bowling shoes with a skirt, and even worse I had to buy a pair of socks from a shop to wear with them, so there was me in black socks, big blue and red shoes and a sparkly skirt!!!!! needless to say I didn’t want to get in any Christmas photos!

  7. KATIE PLANT says:

The funniest Christmas present I ever got from someone I worked with was a pack of hairbands. It was a running joke that my hair bands were always found all over the place in the stock room, where they fell out of my pocket or off my wrist! and then I could never find one when I needed one! Thoughtful and made me giggle!

  8. J E Henderson says:

well – my father in law just bought me a santa little helper dressing up outfit – gota wear it to wrap the presents lol

  9. Anne Marie Munro says:

Many moons ago (well ten years when I was 19) I broke my foot on a wonky paving slab I tripped over whilst Christmas shopping, this happened just the week before and only being young I had an active social calendar planned.
Not wanting to be “boring” I decided to go out as planned the Friday before Christmas crutches and all but wasn’t really in the mood for the festivities. A Meal and coffee finished with I turned around to get ready to go, only to my surprise to find my crutches missing! A few giggling friends later it transpired that two mates had “borrowed” the crutches and took them of to decorate them in tinsel, glitter and baubles! I was so impressed and touched I decided to stay out after all and it really cheered up my day!
