Friday Fun: Are you a re-use muse?

posted at 12:00am, 04 Dec 09 by Whitney [ 9 comments ]

Alright people, this week’s Friday Fun is eco in nature, inspired by the Copenhagen climate talks that begin next week.

Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to consider the most inspirational and creative ways to reuse our packaging. This includes any of the packaging from our entire range … from instant coffee jars (and lids!) to Fresh Ground coffee bags to tea boxes and cocoa tubs.

Be clever, be daring, think outside the bag, as it were.

Could that instant jar make a good piggy bank?
Could that Fresh Ground bag hold the seedlings you’re growing up to plant in your garden next summer?
Could that cocoa tub be the next generation ‘tin can telephone’?

You tell us!

As usual, the rules are simple:

Post your idea in the comment box of this blog post.  The most creative or interesting entry will be chosen by judges from Cafédirect and announced on Monday on our blog.

The winner will win a Coffee  Lovers Treat pictured below -  containing one pack each of our 100% Arabica, gourmet organic Mayan Palenque (my personal favourite) and Machu Picchu coffees, two classic Cafédirect mugs and a Cafédirect Jute Bag, perfect to use and reuse when you’re shopping or out and about.

i would use the jar to keep all essential things – drawing pins, paper clips, blue tac etc which you can never find when you need it

  2. Molly says:

When my little cousins come round we decorate the empty jars using markers and glass paints and make them into vases and desk tidies. They are so proud of them and the grown ups like getting these home made presents.

  3. Shirley Hopkinson says:

I use mine to store small fiddly christmas decorations in – ideal to keep them dust free each year.

Get some glass paint give them a glaze and then use us tea tree light holders to add a little extra light to ur Christmas decorations. Always put it somewhere safe and keep an eye on it tho! x

    Hi everyone -

Many thanks for all your entries … and for coming up with some great ideas for using our packaging in new ways.

A big congatulations goes out to Catherine Miller for her winning idea of using the Classic coffee jars as decorative candle holders. It was a big hit among all of us in the Cafedirect office.

If you’re bummed not to win the gift set, remember that you can still buy it online from http://www.cafedirect.co.uk/shop !
