To celebrate their new Autumn and Winter range, they’ve given us some of their new mens and womens pants as a prize for today’s Friday Fun. With Christmas coming up, the prize would be perfect to keep and wear, or you could use it as great Fairtrade Stocking Stuffers (pictured below).

To win, just tell us about your record breaking achievements (or attempts) OR the best idea for how Cafédirect could win a world record of our own! The most creative and interesting wins the prize.

The rules are simple:

Tell us about your record breaking achievements (or attempts) OR the best idea of how Cafédirect could win a world record and post your response to the comment box of this blog post.

You have until 5.30pm today to post your response. The most creative or interesting suggestion will be chosen by judges from Cafédirect and announced on Monday on our blog.

The chosen comment will win the “Fairtrade Stocking Stuffers” pictured above, which includes six pairs of Fairtrade pants from Pants to Poverty, a pack of Cafédirect’s San Cristobal Drinking Chocolate, some of our new Earl Grey Tea and a pack of our new English Breakfast Tea.

Prizes can only be sent to a UK or Ireland postal address.

Good luck! And remember, if you’re not lucky enough to win the prize, you can pick up some perfect Fairtrade stocking stuffers from Cafédirect and Pants to Poverty at the Ethical Superstore.

And the winner is…. Dayve Dean! Not only has he attempted a world record, but his idea for the world longest pass the parcel, with growers from the 40 co-operatives we work with passing around a parcel of coffee was really creative.

We hope you enjoy your prize Dayve!

  2. Cafédirect HQ says:

Thanks for all your entries! The competition is now closed, but check back Monday to see if you’re the winner of our Fairtrade stocking fillers!

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for the Heads up about the time, I’ve now changed it, so you’re all officially entered into the competition. For everyone else, you have just about half an hour more until we close off entries for these great stocking fillers (apparently stuffers is a bit too Australian or so my colleagues tell me).

    Good luck!
    Helen

  4. Mary says:

    Summertime!!

  5. KATIE says:

You could attempt your own world record of….biggest pair of pants ever made from recycled material. You get people to send in scraps of material they have and sew together the giantest pair of pants there ever were!

  6. Michael says:

BTW, your clock is still set to summertime

  7. Elen says:

Ooohh ……..most coffee beans in a pair of fair trade pants! worn by Alex of course!!!! Got to be the most creative! Got to be a winner!!

  8. Michael says:

how about the longest distance covered by a ship powered by a sail made out of pants? of course, it would require a ‘fair trade’ wind :-) . yeah, i know, rubbish play on words. but it is friday!

  9. Dayve Dean says:

I baked a shockingly large amount of frozen pizzas last year to help break the record for the longest line of baked pizzas. What made it worse was that a few days after we broke the record it was broken by somebody else so we had to do it all again (with extra pizzas thrown in!)

I was also going to have a crack at breaking the record for the largest pass the parcel. How about passing a parcel of coffee from one, some or all or the producers until it makes it over to the London office? That would be a huge record to make or break!

When ITV had their free late night bingo games they attempted to hold the Worlds Biggest Ever Bingo Game i am embarrassed to report heehee that i joined in and they bagged the record!. They even emailed me a certificate to prove it! Oh the pride ;o)
Not life changing or world-friendly but it was fun.

  12. Helena Richards says:

Hold a Cafe/tea Direct party at which people either bring or send in a picture of their Fair Trade pants. Fasten these to a line & go for the world record for the longest Fair Trade washing line! Attendees would also wear their pants, of course.

  13. Molly Malone says:

Cafe Direct could organise an event so that in loads of cities across the country there were people drinking Cafe Direct tea. They could have a Guinness World record judge in each city to count the number of people. This way more people might find out about Cafe Direct and Fairtrade in general and hopefully get more people to think about where their tea comes from and the people who make it and switch to fairtrade.

  14. Kate Boardman says:

In the style of John Lennon, how about a Fairtrade ‘Bed-In’? Participants must stay in bed wearing only Pants To Poverty underwear and drinking Fairtrade coffee to stay awake. Sponsors may donate per hour of wakefulness, per cup of coffee or how long the participant can go without needing the loo. :-)

  15. Rhiannon Mason says:

I think Cafe Direct should try and break a world record by having a really big tea dance or coffee morning.

  16. Helen says:

Biggest pants tea party in the world!!

Tea party (drinking tea direct) but also wearing THE Pants. To be held a the next Bestival. Great way to chill out and enjoy the fun.

  17. Nicky Russell says:

Pants to Poverty – I like that.

How about your next World Record being a sponsored worldwide coffee growing event. (Sponsored by all the Unfairtrade coffee retaillers in the world).

  18. melcrossan says:

how about a record attempt at the most coffee beans in a mini? :o )
