hayfever comes to an end

last day at hay and it’s been a scorcher!
we started off the day with Shakespeare on Toast. Ok, so we didn’t eat the bard for the breakfast but we did enjoy Machu Picchu fresh ground coffee with Ben Crystal and the audience at his breakfast session.
Ben’s new book, ‘Shakespeare on Toast’, is all about bringing Shakespeare from the page to the stage and his lively, interative session certainly brought this to life. Ben used a few excerpts from ‘Hamlet’ and ‘As You Like It’ to show how the words of the plays can direct the action and even pulled up a few eager volunteers from the audience to act out a scene from ‘Macbeth’.

After the session, Ben dropped by the Cafédirect stall for a cup of Kilimanjaro fresh ground coffee…

Mariella Frostrup has been at the Hay Festival all week with Sky Arts for the Hay-on-Sky programmes. She popped into see us earlier in the week to pick up a pack of Machu Picchu coffee and came back again this afternoon on the way to her last Hay-on-Sky show of this year’s festival.

It’s been a fantastic year at Hay for Cafédirect. We’ve really enjoyed meeting people with so much passion and knowledge about the environment, ethical business and high quality food and drink.
Right, I’m off to have some strawberries and a lie-down …
